Bruce Boats, part of the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust, is a charitable operation running four fully-accessible widebeam canal boats for holiday hire and day trips, and a youth narrowboat. We are looking for a part time engineer to work at our base at Great Bedwyn, taking overall responsibility for the maintenance of the boats and their engines, assisted by a team of volunteers.
During the summer months, the Engineer will be expected to be at Great Bedwyn wharf every Friday and Saturday morning. The remaining hours can be worked flexibly. During the winter Tuesday is the main work day, with the other hours worked flexibly. Occasionally the Engineer will be expected to attend boats at any place along the canal, so own transport is essential.
Ability to maintain diesel engines and basic electrical knowledge is required; familiarity with canal boats an advantage, although training will be given.
