We are planning to raise funds and upgrade Bedwyn Wharf with good car-parking, a new reception area, storage and a training room. The Wiltshire Community Foundation has granted us enough money to employ an architect with canal-side project experience to guide us to a design and feasibility study during early 2021 – and then we will seek larger funds to develop the project to completion.
We hope to have new buildings and workshops in place, built to reflect a typical canal wharf in the late 19th Century. We think that Bedwyn Wharf transported timber from Savernake Forest so that feel will be inherent in our design.
It’s a huge project and will take a few years but the result should improve our guest’s experience and make the local community even prouder of the important work we do for people lacking in mobility or who are vunerable.
