The Bruce Boats are managed by an extraordinary team of unpaid volunteers, all of whom are committed to providing the highest levels of service to our guests – whether they are family groups hiring a boat for a holiday, a group of young guides learning about teamwork and canals, a group of children with special educational needs or an outing from a care home for elderly dementia patients.
We have over a hundred volunteers who all contribute to our success, but here are the few who also strive to manage the ‘backroom’ operation to keep our boats providing an exemplary service:
Mike Bacon is our Branch Engineer and works alongside Ash and his team to ensure that all boats and the wharf are looked after well. He is also the callout engineer and helps guests who unfortunately find that their boat has a problem during their hire
Alison Cannon manages our narrowboat ‘Lady H’ for the use of community groups, Guides and Scouts. She is a member of the Kennet and Avon Youth Boating Group
Steve and Julia Coleman are our Volunteer Co-ordination team and help to make sure that our boats and turnround teams are fully crewed. If you would like to help run out boats then Julia or Steve are the people to contact at: volunteer@321jump.co.uk
Peter Fox is Training Manager and looks after all aspects of training from Induction right up to skipper certification
Patrick Pease is our Public Relations Manager and liaises with the press, media. clients and the general public. He lives in Great Bedwyn and makes sure the village is happy with the work we do
Tim Pyatt is a director of Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Enterprise, the commercial arm of the Trust. He helps to manage all the Trust boats and branches. He is also a member of the Bruce Boats governance team and takes a special interest in planning for future developments in hybrid engines and helps with boat electrics
Martin Rubach is our Chairman and attempts to keep the team in order!. He is an MCA Boatmaster and often skippers or crews our day trips for care homes and charitable groups
Alison Selby is the management team’s secretary and archivist, and sometimes helps crew on day trips
Ash Stone is our Boat Manager and looks after all aspects of our wide beam and narrowboat fleet. He manages the ‘winter warriors’, the team of volunteers who maintain and prepare the boats for operations during the spring, summer and autumn. He is also our finance manager looking after budgets and costs
Patrick Titman is the Branch Health and Safety representative on the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust Enterprise Board’s Health and Safety Committee. He’s available to help, advise and monitor health, safety and environmental matters
